David J. Anderson of Anderson Advertising • Design in Batavia is proud to announce that he and Bobbi Erdmann, of Erdmann Advertising, Inc. in Aurora, have teamed to offer even more services to its list of promotional offerings.                                                                                

Established in 1999, Anderson Advertising is celebrating its 24th year in business offering extensive experience in marketing, advertising, graphic design, web development, product literature, SEO, marketing plans, podcasts, video production, photography, 360º animation. social media across multiple platforms and digital marketing campaigns.

Erdmann joins the firm, bringing with a myriad of marketing, PR and creative writing experience as she heads Anderson’s business development function along with Anderson’s team of talented professionals.

Anderson began his career in Elgin, Illinois when at age 17 he began air brushing and doing paste up, layout, mockup and marker illustrations on a freelance basis. When a freelance job became available for Water Services in Elgin, Anderson created their trade show booth doing the photography, printing, mounting, logo and putting the booth together. This was the start of Dave’s career in all forms of design.

After high school Anderson attended Ray College of Design in Schaumberg studying communication design prior to computer design. He also attended Ray College in Chicago studying photography. Ray College has now become the Illinois Institute of Art.

Self-learning was a big part of Dave Anderson’s education after college when computer design came into being. He began learning and using the early tools of desktop publishing and currently has advanced experience in today’s industry standard design programs. 

Working in the advertising department for Reliable Corporation, which was later purchased by Office Max, Anderson performed as a creative supervisor designing and producing catalogs. In addition, he often went home and worked late into the night building his freelance design business. 

In July 1999, no longer able to continue the difficulty of working virtually two full-time jobs, Anderson went out on his own and started Anderson Advertising • Design. Even after he left Reliable, he was given the opportunity to produce five of Reliable Corporation’s catalogs. This work ultimately grew into five designers in his own home. – Dave in the sunroom, one designer in his living room, two in his dining room and one in his second bedroom. As Dave likes to say, “I had to purchase an office building because I was running out of rooms.”

Anderson bought his current office building at 215 E. Wilson Street in Batavia initially as an investment in June 2002. It had been a monument company downstairs and an insurance company upstairs. The building had gone through 50 years of band aid fixes. 

Originally built in 1843 by Judge Isaac Wilson from Batavia, New York, the building had no insulation. The flooring was buckling and both electric and plumbing were faulty and had to be replaced along with the roof, siding, trim and total inside gutting and remodeling. Anderson opened his doors in the newly renovated building in September 2004. 

In 2007, as the demand for website design increased, Anderson went back to school to become an expert in Web development. He found that working with programmers who weren’t producing the designs he was creating, he decided to take control and do it himself.

Erdmann began her career planning and producing events and press releases for the City of Aurora and later pursued a career in marketing, literature production, PR, advertising and community liaison work for various clients such as The Village of Sugar Grove; Volkman Insurance Agency in North Aurora; Engineering Enterprises, Inc. in Sugar Grove; Compass Surveying, Ltd. In Aurora; Landmark Engineering Group, Inc. in Urbandale, Iowa; Safety Check, Inc. in Minooka; Piper Tree Service in Naperville, Schilke Music Company in Melrose Park; The Lannert Group in Geneva; Vesco Reprographic in Montgomery, The City of Yorkville and Aurora University.
