The Paramount Theatre/Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), an innovative organization located on Stolp Island in the Fox River in the heart of the richly diverse community of historic Aurora, Illinois (one hour from downtown Chicago), is seeking an Entry Level Maintenance Technician. 

ACCA is the parent organization, which also includes a 501(c)3 arm under the name of Paramount Arts Centre, Inc. It operates four performance venues: the 6,000-person RiverEdge Park, the 1,843-seat landmark Paramount Theatre, the 165-seat, newly renovated Copley Theatre, and the brand new Stolp Island Theatre: a 9,000 square foot development that includes an intimate 98-seat 4,600 square foot theater. ACCA produces and presents over 500 performances each year, including star-studded touring productions, a self-produced Broadway Series of musicals (which has the largest theater subscription base in the country) and an intimate experience of Million Dollar Quartet for an annual audience of 350,000 patrons from over 250 communities. ACCA proudly operates the Paramount School of the Arts in the new John C. Dunham Aurora Arts Center, right next door to Paramount Theatre in downtown Aurora. Paramount Theatre also hosts free community events, $1 Classic Movie Mondays and its opulent interiors provide a spectacular backdrop for private functions such as wedding receptions or corporate galas. Across the street from Paramount Theatre are the gorgeous Meyer Ballrooms, which play host to multiple wedding receptions and rental events throughout the year.

DIRECT REPORTING – Director of Operations

POSITION STATUS & SCHEDULE –
Full time hourly: Generally, 8-hour days Monday–Friday with occasional weekends, evenings and holidays
 
COMPENSATION
Starting pay at $18 to $20 per hour with 90/day and 180/day performance review and/or salary adjustments

POSITION SUMMARY – This is an entry level maintenance position. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of practical skills (tool use, basic plumbing/electrical), problem-solving, attention to detail, physical fitness, strong communication, reliability, and eagerness to learn to handle common repairs and support facility operations effectively. The Entry Level Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with the general upkeep, repair and maintenance of facilities, equipment and grounds. The role supports the Facilities and Operations Department by performing basic repairs, routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks under the guidance of experienced maintenance staff.
 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Entry level building maintenance
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES  
  • Basic mechanical skills with the ability to perform simple repairs and adjustments on equipment, fixtures and building systems
  • Basic carpentry skills including the ability to assist with minor construction, repairs and installation tasks such as patching, measuring, cutting and assembling materials
  • Basic problem-solving skills with the ability to identify routine maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions or escalate concerns when necessary
  • Ability to safely use common hand tools and basic power tools
  • Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling materials (typically up to 75lbs), bending, kneeling, climbing ladders and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Good communication skills to interact professionally with supervisors, coworkers and facility occupants
  • Willingness to learn new maintenance techniques, tools, and procedures through on the job training
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety policies and procedures
