Description
Short description: In the antebellum United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Long description: “12 Years a Slave” won the Academy Award in 2013 for Best Picture. The film, directed by Steve McQueen, is an adaptation of the 1853 slave narrative memoir “Twelve Years a Slave” by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free African-American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C., in 1841 and sold into slavery.
